Frequently asked questions

Do I need a South Dakota hunting license?


Yes, everyone must have a hunting license. Purchase through South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks website.




When is the 2020 pheasant hunting season?


October 17, 2020- January 3, 202. Shooting hours are 12 noon to sunset for the first seven days of the season, and then 10 a.m. to sunset for the rest of the season.




How do I book a hunt?


Email 605RoosterHive@gmail.com and we will send a hunt reservation form over. It will just take a few minutes but we need to collect some basic information. At time of booking a 50% deposit must be made.




What is appropriate dress for hunting?


The weather can vary so we recommend you bring plenty of layers so you can adjust as needed to stay comfortable throughout your hunt. Be sure to bring comfortable/waterproof hunting boots, warm socks , shooting gloves and a stocking hat. Sticker proof pants and foot warmers are always a bonus. Don't forget to bring your blaze orange for safety!




Do you offer lodging?


No, we do not offer any lodging at this time. Please refer to the lodging page for more information on options around the area.




Is lunch included in the pricing?


Yes, lunch is provided with the purchase of every hunt.




Will you clean our birds?


Bird cleaning can be arranged.




Can we do multiple hunts during the week?


Yes! We would be happy to have you join us for more than one day. Just call us or send an email to book your hunt!




Can we hunt anything other than pheasants?


We primarily offer guided pheasant hunts. If you are interested in grouse or prairie chicken hunts give us a call to discuss these opportunities.




Any additional information I should know about?


All hunters will be required to sign a release of liability prior to hunting.
